Has anyone subscribed to any subscription boxes? What has your experience been?
I tried out Glossybox for a few months last year (shortly before they stopped the Canadian Glossybox). They had a lot of issues - selling products that were purchased from third party vendors and were seemingly extremely old - in mine I had some Avon liquid shadow that was never even sold in Canada and I couldn't find online anywhere and a Revlon nail polish that was so old that all the writing had rubbed off the bottle. I don't think I got anything that I ever thought was worth it. It definitely was not up to par with what our US friends get.
I like the idea of subscription boxes, but would love to hear about your experiences with different brands!
I just recently opted into the Summer Luxe Box - due in June - because they emailed me (it was an ad through some other mailing list I'm on) saying they would include a mini Eyeko liquid liner, which I've wanted to try for a while, and the extra that you could opt into for $9.00 was a cute BaubleBar bracelet. I didn't buy a lengthy subscription, just the one time deal to give it a test run.

The only one I tried was the Glossy Box ... and it ended up being their last month. It was underwhelming, to say the least. An awful lip crayon, horrible smelling bath salts, a royal blue eye liner (long ago given to a 13-year-old that might actually use it), a razor (?), and a night cream I'm afraid to use. The razor was ok I've done Ipsy, but as my tastes started changing, I found that it wasn't really appealing to me anymore. I'd love to find something else.

Ive only tried topbox, but that was back in late 2012 - early 2013. The only other box I was marginally interested in was luxe box. I wasnt interested in any of the other boxes because of the types of products they offered or quality, in terms of brands.
Topbox at the time was only $10+tax...they were the only box that was more consistent with the types of products in heir boxes. at that price, I was okay wth accepting the risk. I feel like after I unsubbed, they kind of went downhill with brief moments of excitemebt. I do like that they have prive boxes that you can select to receive instead of the regular boxes, but its not guaranteed.
I feel like after a few months of subbing, a lot of the items are just being repeated and its not really very exciting. The upside with them is they have amazig customer service and if you received a damage item or duplicate, they are quick to send you a replacement/substitution.
In the end, I cancelled though because I wasnt using most of the stuff I received in my boxes and ended up giving everything away.

I have tried a few the last couple of months. Here are my thoughts: 1. Ipsy - US but ships to Canada. Nice mix of brands from Urban Decay to Bombshell to Mary Kay. Deluxe or full size samples. You get a Cute makeup bag every month. You can "customize" what you like/dislike in terms of type of products. There are mixed results re: customization. If you dislike false eyelashes but everyone is guaranteed eyelashes that month you will receive them no matter what. 2. Beauty Box 5 - US but ships to Canada. Drugstore brands. Usually deluxe but sometimes foils Main pro - cheapest option. No customization. 3. Luxe Box - Canadian. One of the more expensive options. Received my first one last month. Good mix of products and brands. No customization. 4. Top Box - Canadian. Four to five samples, usually deluxe. Last month was a murale sponsored box. Offers the opportunity to bid for random selection of specially curated boxes ie: Glamglow, Fragrance etc. 5. Memembox - Korean but ships to Canada. Unlike the others, this is not a monthly or in Luxe Box's case a quarterly box. You purchase each box individually. Deluxe and full sized products. Offers specialized boxes ie: masks, pores, anti-aging, makeup etc. You can also choose "naked" boxes which reveal the contents prior to purchase. Only downfall, the boxes can sell out quickly and shipping dates might be a month away depending on the box.

You ladies are so knowledgeable! That's a really good list, jackbox9999! Like I said, I love the idea behind these types of things, but I haven't seen in executed particularly well yet. I'm looking forward to getting my Luxe Box in June, but I know that I will likely just cancel after that because, like many of you, I won't use a lot of the things and it's just a waste of money I can put toward one product that I really do like and will use. Unless they really blow me away...lol I find that I have a gambler's mentality with these things. I'm disappointed, yet I will pay for another month because "maybe this will be the winning box with fabulous products!"

I did Ipsy and well it was a waste of money IMO. If I subscribe to another one it will be the one from Saffron Rouge. It's expensive but saw a few pics and it seems worth it. We'll see.

luxe box (but cancelled) my last box will be in June. I like it...but not enough to pay the fee...it just doesn't seem worth it.
top box - some months are pretty good....others not so much but i'm still sticking with it..for now
ipsy - i have mixed emotions but haven't cancelled...yet

Oh yeah they do danimazz ! It's called the inner circle. I think I googled it and someone blogged about the box. It looked nice.

I've done Ipsy (only for 2 months now) I've never been SUPER excited, but I don't really know what to expect haha. I figured I'd give it a good run and then if I get bored of it then I'll just cancel. I've also subscribed to the Julep Maven. Sometimes, I think the only reason that I stick with it is the awesome customer service whenever I have issues. I talk to one person every time instead of bouncing around through a bunch of nameless/faceless CSRs that don't ever fix anything. But again.. It's been less than 6 months, so I figured once I get a good collection going then I can just cancel that, too. I have heard of the Saffron Rouge inner circle and read some reviews about it on my subscription addiction. Seems pretty interesting

Don't forget birchbox sends out to Canada too! I'm pretty sure they don't unless it changed in the last month or so. I tried signing up with them and couldn't get it I still subscribe to their emails, so I think I would have gotten one saying they ship to Canada? Maybe?

I sign up for the following: Julep - I like nailpolish, so this one is fun. I'm usually never disappointed TopBox - hit or miss, but pretty worthwhile IMO Luxe Box - I WANT to really like this, but so far I haven't. Getting my 3rd box next month, so we'll see. non-beauty TeaSparrow - LOVE tea, so, this is a no-brainer for me

I have a subscription to topbox. For the small amount is costs ($13.56) I find it's worth it (for now). Can be hit or miss with the deluxe samples included. But, if you are a non product returner like me, it lets you try products you might otherwise not--ie- I got the benefit box a few months back and discovered that many of their products are very scented (not for me)

My nailpolish collection has grown exponentially and I find that they have awesome customer service if there's ever any hiccups.
