I'm looking for tips on how to get the most out of my products. I've seen YouTube videos of women slicing into their UD primer potion bottles and I'm skeptical. What tools are they using? How do they know they aren't getting shards of plastic in the products?!
Does anyone have tried and true tips for reaching as much product as possible? I'd love general guidance or product specific tips! (I know - I KNOW - I am wasting my NARS Pro Prime and this makes me angry!) I guess this applies mostly to moisturizers, lotions, and similar products.

I've been known to disassemble pump apparatus containers and scrape out the last bits into a Sephora pump bottle from the travel kit and use the last remainder that way. I have gotten the pump things apart by brute force methods involving a screwdriver and pliers. No plastic pieces got in, they crack apart pretty easily.

I use those binder clips for my primers and foundation bottles that are softer plastic. It works on getting the last little bit out.

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Plastic paint tube squeezers from Michael's or Hobby Lobby work great for squeezing out the last of product in tubes. They are in the oil/acrylic painting section, though I did have to ask a SA to help me find them because they are small.

Yup. Since I've got a ton of them, I repurpose them for this. I don't want to cut a bottle. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

If you google makeup spatula, then click on images you will see several other options similar/identical. Then you can follow links to find some that are in stock. Amazon has a few.

I just use my fingers(making sure that my hands are clean before attempting my projects) and scooping them out into little jars that are used for traveling purposes.
I slice my bottles (plastic) open with scissors if it's a soft plastic or knives for harder plastics.
I mostly attempt this process with body lotions, lipglosses, primers etc., You will be surprised how much product is on the bottom or on the sides of these bottles...

Speaking of lipgloss, you reminded me of a tip that I read. When the tube seems empty, with a pair of sturdy tweezers or pliers, pull the clear part in the top of the tube out. The wand part of the lipgloss will still screw into the threaded part of the tube, though I don't take it on airplanes at this stage because it could leak without that clear seal. Also, I use up the tube really quickly, don't let it sit around for weeks since I figure without the seal it could get bacteria in it. But there is a surprising amount of gloss left in the bottom!

I usually cut the tops of tubes with scissors and scoop the product out into little sample jars/pots while wearing gloves. No matter how much I clean my hands, I would rather put on gloves just to make sure!

I've cut up my UD primer potions that were in the old packaging. I was amazed that a) I didn't lose a finger and b) there was that much product left in there. I transferred the left over product to a tiny plastic jar, but found that it dried out before I could use it anyway, so it wasn't really worth it. I'm glad they've switched to tubes now - much easier to use as much as possible.

I just cut open my UD primer with serrated scissors and used a small paint palette knife to get everything out. I was ready to throw it out and thought "I wonder how much is left in there". Wowzer! Probably about a 1/2 ounce. What a waste that would have been.
