Hey ladies! Anyone have this palette? I am using it this week for the palette parade and I don't think I like it! Yesterday's look was nice; I used the pinky purple colors and for my eye color it was nice. I redid my eyes three times today and still don't like it. I don't think I do blue or silver's well. I'm considered a neutral, this palette is more cool and I don't think the silver and blue work. I'm interested on other's thoughts before I go fishing for the receipt to return this one too.

I absolutely love this palette! I find that using nyx eyeshadow pencil in milk then using the kvd palette really makes the colors pop! Granted I have cool undertones, I actually only use one color at a time with this palette which is odd for me but over all I'm glad I got it.

I don't have that product, but people tell me about it all the time. I do use Too Faced Eye Shadow Insurance. I am not sure it's an issue with the pigmentation; I think it's the colors. I'm trying to blend and alot of these colors don't go well together on me... I don't think I can do blue, and there are like 3 in this. And the silver looks crazy on my skin. The purples, and pinks are fine, but I have them in the Marc Jacobs Teast Palette.

Colors are personal preference and yes, related to your skintone. I can't do cool colors like silver or gray without looking dusty, or purple/coral/wine without looking like I got punched/sick no matter how pretty they look, so I go for the warmer colored palettes.
Try experiment a bit before giving up, tone the color down, use it as an accent for colors you like, etc.

I have this palette too and yet to use it either . Will have to look into the nyx eyeshadow pencil in milk. Kind of stuck in a zone with the too faced boudior palette right now.

Yeah, the blue is pretty in the palette; it didn't translate well on my skin tone, but it's really pigmented. What other palettes did you get?

The colors might just not work well with your skintone, its probably a personal preference but I can't do pinks I think they look awful on me!

I'm going back to my faithful neutrals and 1 pop of color. Chocolate bar, naked 1, It Naturally pretty, and whatever else gives me pretty nudes. I am accepting that I am a neutral girl.

I had a feeling that you wouldn't like this, based on your findings with the Monarch. I didn't get the Chrysalis one myself because of reading that the shadows were more problematic to use (vs. the Monarch). The Chrysalis is very cool-based, and I think wouldn't look right if you're drawn to warmer colors. I like cooler colors but there didn't seem to be any unique ones in the Chrysalis that made me want to buy it.
Have you tried any of the Sephora shimmer shadows? They're hit or miss but there are some great colorful and fun ones in that line. I got the Surfin' USA one and it's really a great color.

I have waved the white flag on trying new colorful palette catbelly. I am a neutral girl, and I should stick with what I know. I love my Naked 1, Chocolate Bar, KVD Ladybird, and IT Pretty palettes. I own the MJ Palette in Tease, which gives me purple and I have a couple of singles from Chanel and Givenchy... and I guess UD that can help me with color. I've accepted that I use color as an accent not a main look. It took me a couple of months, and a little experimentation, but I figured it out. My hubby got me these palettes; I asked him if he was upset about it and he said he didn't care; he just wants me to have what I like. I'm leaving work soon for teh day so I'll be stopping at Sephora to do an exchange; I think I'm going to get the MJ 3 pot palette in The Glam 108 which has neutral peaches and copper. Maybe I'll try again next spring.

Maybe I'll try again next spring. Mrs. B, the shadow I'm referring to is a single shadow. You can assemble a palette with it (the palette is free, depending on how many shadows you buy and whether you want a 3-shade or 6-shade one), but this isn't necessary. Like you, I'm finding that I like the bolder colors as an accent. I'm up there in age, so doing an all-over shadow in a really bold color is a bit much. But a dot of color in the middle of the lid (with blended edges), or a neat color in the crease or on the outer 1/3 of the lid, and this looks really nice now and then. But not an everyday look. This is main reason that I'm not buying the UD Electric palette, as the whole thing would be like an accent-color palette to me and I'd rather just buy individual colors at this point. I just thought you may be interested in that one shade if you were looking for something with a bit more color than the blues and grays in the Chrysalis palette.

I just got back from Sephora and I took a look at the sephora shimmery ones... They had left. It was like total emptiness in the one I went to! They had a tone of the MJ one I wanted. I need to take inventory of what I have at home then see what pops of color I need. I know I have a couple pinks, the green, coppers, even a couple purple singles. It may be that I don't need (can't even believe I typed that) anything. I should go on hackneyfl's no buy...

I've found that some of these shimmer shadows are better than others. You probably already know this, but patting on shimmer shadows is better than smoothing them on. I've gotten three shimmer shades that I like: My Boyfriend's Jeans No. 19, described as a deep blue shimmer (this was on sale at my local JCP Sephora for $2.99 and was online for $5--one of Temptalia's top shadows for 2013); Surfin USA No. 14, described as azur blue shimmer; and Cookie Crunch No. 84, described as a golden brown shimmer. The Cookie Crunch is a good neutral. The Surfin one is just wow--it looks so nice on. My Boyfriend's Jeans is my least favorite in this line. I also like Sephora's Luster Matte shadows. I made a palette of 6 shades of this line (which is a satiny, not shimmery matte), and my two favs are Berry Crush, described as Rich Raspberry, and Night Owl, described as royal blue purple. You may already have a similar purple in your MJ palette (maybe), but that Berry Crush is an interesting pop of color as blended dot just above the iris.

i don't do neutral eyes...like every...i tried...for 2 days...and i felt naked and sad so eyes always colour...i do neutral lips usually. sometimes i'll do "neutral" colour - naked 3ish stuff and do a bolder lip. i do a full face almost every day. i don't sleep well so it gives me something to do to keep myself from going cray cray!

So I'm having font issues, so excuse the html code if you see it. I'm the IT person who calls the help desk. I seem to be able to effectively pull off pops of color, but not full on color on the lid. I can shade the crease, and a little above with color, do color in the crease or V, or use some on the bottom lash. When I try to put color on the lid, I feel odd. Unless it's purple which goes so nicely with my eye color. I came home finally and took inventory of my single shadows. I really need to stop buying them. I think I have enough. I found pinks, purples, greens, coppers, black, browns, and dark pinks. I need to shop the stash and use my comfy zone neutrals. So I went to target and got the NYX pencil in milk.... I don't know why; I guess because it was mentioned. So what do I do with it?

The NYX pencil is supposed to be used as a base when you're wearing more colorful shadows. NYX also makes a version that comes in a pot. I've seen some MUAs on YouTube use it before applying their shadows.
