Dat job hunt again is frustrating me. And because I have to actually pay for my swimming. For some reason, I want to continue swimming competitively... so that's $84+USMS' fees of $35. Job hunts are the worst. I hate seeing all these listings for people with "experience", yet no-one willing to teach you that experience you need! biggest piece of advice- look for Entry level jobs which are mostly sales and marketing. Stick it out for 2 years and voila, you have experience. It'll suck for a while but it'll jumpstart your career.

Job hunts are the worst. I hate seeing all these listings for people with "experience", yet no-one willing to teach you that experience you need! I agree. I suffered for over a year. I graduated university in December 2012 and only started my post-graduate career 3 weeks ago. I would get a lot of interviews but many companies would never get back to me or if they would, they would tell me I lack office experience. I'm so sorry that all my past and current experience is in retail or public service. Finally ly at the end of July one company decided to give me a chance. Not a few days later after I accepted this contract (it's only a 1 year contract) I got offered another job that is more in my field. (I studied management and HR) unfortunately I had to turn it down because I agreed to the other position (working in the wire transfer department at a bank). now that my cv has been floating around for over a year (with tweaks here and there, everyone is calling me for interviews or job offers) sometimes it's just all about timing. Do I like this job that I'm doing now? Ehhhhhhhh....not really. First of all it was hard to quit my old job. I was there 5 years 8 months and I knew everyone, it was a 10 minute walk from my place. the new place is 1 hour 10 minutes by public transportation and I'm still the newbie. This week has been an especially hard , tough and stressful week. I have made so many mistakes and I just want to cry. i'm hoping it can only get better. It's tough when you try to be a perfectionist and are extremely shy.

I had an associate key something wrong and it brought town a system used by our traders for 7 hours. Shit happens. Tomorrow more shit will happen. It is what it is. You all will be fine. Biggest piece if advice- get a mentor so you don't make too many career mistakes.

That's the motto of my job mrsbaine. Something seems to happen everyday. I was told today that they do not have enough money to pay me, but my assignments are not done. Wonder what I should do. Maybe, I will finish the projects and let them pay me later. If I do that, they better pay me later. I love them, but I am not working for free.

notcreative, I'm sure they will figure out how to pay you. If they want the job done, they'll work it out. I walked into a shit storm this AM. It is what it is. What I'm most upset about this morning is that I didn't know it was Jean's day.

Thank you mrsbaine. What you said is exactly what I needed to hear and it makes me feel so much better. Today was a good day, I'm pretty sure I didn't make any boo boos and I felt a lot more confident in my tasks. (Which was surprising because I didn't sleep a wink last night. I spent all night crying and fretting about my faults and mistakes at work). But it was a good day. One step at a time. And my sephora items arrived as well! It really was a good day after all! Ha!

I cheated on my manicurist at the spa last weekend. The facial and other treatments at the spa were phenomenal. Unfortunately, the manicure was awful and my nails were left intolerably uneven. Couldn't take looking at them any longer and went to my regular manicurist today to get them fixed. He thought I tried to do them myself. I didn't correct him. I will never cheat on him ever again. Lesson learnt.

I've known her longer than I've known my husband. How funny! She does a great job and anytime I travel and have someone else do them, they look like crap.

My manicurist keeps disappearing, so I have to drive to Berkeley and switch manicurists. I mean it's so hard to find a good manicurist these days and ones who can create the best almond nails for me. Mainly because this way at least they look great and they also work as a self-defense tool. (Shanking with fingernails...)

Ha - I have had one manicure ever! It was ruined in 2 days from riding horses/barnwork/working in a vet clinic - never again!

I haven't done my own nails in over a decade. The two scariest things about moving: finding a new hair dresser and a new manicurist. I've had so many disasters in the past that when I moved back to Montréal, I accosted a woman in the elevator who had an awesome manicure and demanded she tell me where she did her nails (I was probably polite, and nice - but that's how I remember it). She turned me on to a salon full of gay vietnamese men who are drag queens by night, manicurists by day. Absolutely incredible and well worth the 14km drive! Unfortunately, I haven't had such good luck with my hair, 3 years after moving back here, I am on my 7th hairdresser. I found one that was awesome, but she up and left without any warning, and now I can't find her

I'm with you brie514! I hate finding new people too. I hope you are able to find a hairdresser soon. Are there any friends you have where you live who have great hair? This is the same with the guy who does my massages; I hope he stays in Maryland forever.

mrsbaine, unfortunately, most of my girlfriends defer to me when it comes to all things beauty and I'm utterly useless with hair! I can get it straight, and uh... into a various ponytail styles or a bun. I can't even get it to braid properly! My mother never learned to do her own hair beyond how to extend a blowout, and always relied on hairdressers so i never had anyone to teach me. I get blowouts more often than I care to admit because I simply cannot make my hair look chic on my own. I signed up for a course once but was never able to make it to the lessons. Who schedules things at 4pm on a Wednesday?!?

My hair also was trial and error brie514. I used to go to a hairdresser 100% of the time to do it. But now, with the exception of trims and chemical treatments, I do it myself. I had to find the right tools- hair dryer, etc. and the right products. I totally feel your pain on that one. Are there any girls here who live close to you? They may be a good resource.

I cannot do hair or find hair, but I barely cut it. You know, superstitious thing as a swimmer. Cut your hair, lose your strength, although people are like: doesn't that make you faster? Yeah, probably, if the hair fits CORRECTLY in my swim cap. Also I like my hair really long, but it is hard to find someone to layer my hair the way I like.

I just got this jewellery case/makeup mirror and can't hang it because I absent modestly left the drill at the cottage. I feel like a petulant child. I want to hang the pretties now!!!

I have been seeing the same girl for my hair for the past 3 years. She is amazing. I have her number and told her if you move or change stores, tell me or I will track you down! Lol. I used to hop around stylists though back in the day. She has seen my hair go from a very short bob to all the way down to my chest. And she is really good at coloring hair too. We had some fun doing ombre hair color too.
Nails I do myself. I used to love getting them done but it is pricey! (I mainly did it for the massage when I was really stressed!). I have my own nail care and my friend runs a nail blog/instagram so I get tips from her! Plus I can be a little bit of a germaphobe. I always question whether stuff is really sanitary at the nail salon.

I have a canker sore. Need I say more. UGH. I just had to put Anbesol to relieve pain. A quarter of my lip and my tongue is numb. Need to stop accidentally biting myself when I eat.

But I just cannot file my nails, like I said.
