Need recommendations for face powder for 40+ year old skin. I don't need it for oil control (I actually run on the drier side). It's more for setting my makeup and giving it a finished look.
I've been using MUFE's HD powder and the e.l.f. equivalent...not really a fan.
I used to use Tarte's Amazonian Clay powder but it tends to dry me out too much sometimes.
I'd like to get recommendations for both loose and pressed formulas. Moisturizing formula--if such a thing exists--preferred. I'm a MUFE 118/Tarte Light Sand.
Thanks.

I am also pretty dry, and I use this YSL pressed powder to set my makeup. It doesn't usually make me too dry unless I'm particularly bad that day, but sometimes I have to avoid my nose (my dryest part, yes my skin is weird). I really like the finish, and the compact itself is pretty and comes in a little velvet pouch. :-D m.nordstrom.com/s/3237514/

I love the NARS light reflecting loose powder to set my make up. It really does a great job of both setting and creating a nice blurred effect. ( I also use the Guerlain meteorites or the Hourglass ambient lighting powders as a finishing one in addition.

I just got the NARS light reflecting loose powder recently & love it. I also swirl on the Guerlain meteorites after I have my entire face finished.

For setting powder, I use an YSL loose powder but I see that Nordstrom's isn't carrying it anymore. But I had saved the part of the website describing what the powder was supposed to do and it looks like it was replaced with this: shop.nordstrom.com/s/yves-saint-laurent-souffle-declat-finishing-veil/3700797?origin=category-personalizedsort&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=&resultback=1089&cm_sp=personalizedsort-_-browseresults-_-1_2_B [not sure how to post a link] My shade in the old powder is #2 and I'm also a MUFE 118 (or MAC NW20) so that likely you would wear #2 in this new powder. It does have a tiny bit of color--I know some people prefer translucent, but I like having a little bit of color and I love the texture. The old powder has good system of dispersing the powder (with a perforated cover inside that you turn to "shave off" a bit of powder--nice for travel and keeping air out of the powder). The new powder has the same "pearl particles" as the old one did so likely this is just an updated version. The powder name is 'Souffle D'Eclat' Finishing Veil.

Thanks for the recommendations--now that my no-buy has ended (well, it kind of ended yesterday), I'll start checking some out. Today I tried going without powder and as stupid as this may sound, felt rather unfinished So I need to get something and fast!

Killah- I wantz zee word colorz! Rjamlt,
You should be able to change your font/color within the reply box, unless you hit "quick reply", which does not give you any editing options.

I'm older (cough. cough) and my skin is a bit on the dry side. I use Sephora Microsmooth powder foundation to set liquid foundation. And, when I am done, I also use a finishing powder, wither Hourglass Ambient Light palette, Guerlain Meteorites, or Wet n Wild Color Icon bronzer in Reserve your Cabana (this is really too light to be a bronzer, except perhaps on the palest of skintones)...

I really love Laura Mercier's Translucent Loose Setting Powder, it's the best I've ever used. It goes on really smooth and feels silky. I put it on over liquid foundation and I almost never have to touch it up throughout the day. And it's a pretty good value it's $35 for a ounce and always lasts me a year at least.

I love the Guerlain Les Violettes Loose Powder... but that is pretty expensive, but I think it is worth the money. My mom loves it and she has dry skin. She always uses mine when she comes to visit and she loves how it doesn't make her skin feel tighter (her words).

I'm 35 with dry skin. I really like Smashbox PhotoSet Powder. It just sets your make-up and then you can't even tell you have it on.
