I'm looking for a powder that I can carry in my purse for mid-day touch ups. I need about 10 blotting papers over a typical work day to keep the oil at bay. I feel like a powder could help with oil absorption and hopefully help keep the light coverage that I prefer.
What recommendations do you have? I do have wrinkles around my mouth that powder and foundation like to emphasize so I'm trying to avoid exacerbating that. In the a.m. I'm currently using HG Mineral Veil; either YSL Touche Eclat or MAC BB Cream or nothing (if my skin is behaving); set with a MAC powder. The MAC is just something I'm trying to use up; it's neither awesome nor awful.
Also, should I carry a travel sized powder brush? Back in the day when I used to carry powder compacts, I always used the sponge applicators. Now I kinda cringe at the thought (bacteria and grunge, much?!)

I love the Marc Jacobs Beauty Perfection Powder - Featherweight Finish, I have oily t-zone and this helps alot for me www.sephora.com/perfection-powder-featherweight-finish-P384917?skuId=1552538

Back in the day when I used to carry powder compacts, I always used the sponge applicators. Now I kinda cringe at the thought (bacteria and grunge, much?!) When I was younger and had to do powder touch-ups because of an oily nose, I used to use the pink foam type puffs, trading them out with the traditional puff that came with the pressed powder. Then I washed that puff at least once a week, rotating it with a couple other ones. I also used to use powders w/o talc for touching up; for some reason, I think talc tends to cling more to small hairs and wrinkles. You are correct in trying to avoid putting powder on wrinkles--I just read in a makeup book for older women that foundations/powders should be more lightly used on wrinkles; in fact, the authors said to blot what is put there so there is less there than on other parts of the face. I usually prefer brushes over puffs but I think in the case of pressed powder (for touch-ups), a puff gives more control (since pat it on where powder is needed) and is easier to carry. I know that many MUAs advocate using translucent powder, but I personally find that powder with a touch of color works better for me. I used to use a talc-free one from Lancome (not sure if it's even made anymore) but there are so many out there that maybe someone can recommend a better one. I currently use loose powder made by YSL (no longer used) but I don't think the pressed kind (for touch-ups) needs to be the same as any loose ones used when first applying makeup.

My two suggestions: Jane Iredale Pure Pressed powder. The compact is chic, durable, refillable and the powder itself is amazing and leaves a flawless finish. Real Techniques folding kabuki brush - not too expensive so you don't worry about it too much, can be folded out or used as a kabuki, and works well.

I would actually be looking at a better primer if you find you're having that much oil in a day. I've switched a few things up and find I have far less oil through the day now. I use a facial oil at night to moisturise (Clarins) and use two different primers now that it's warming up. The Urban Decay Primed and Poreless, as well as the Guerlain Meteorites. I find that I rarely have to blot through the day now.
