Hey guys! I need a suggestion for my mane. I have thick, and I mean THICK hair and it is naturally curly. I unfortunately don't embrace my curls and straighten my hair. I have a great straightener I love, but am looking for a hairdryer that really works! What dryers do y'all recommend?

I have a T3, I really like it but my hair is fine and straight. But it's the only dryer at my salon, which is a really nice Aveda salon.

I have a T3 and it really cuts down on the drying time. I'm tempted by the yellow dry bar one but they don't carry it in the Sephora stores near me and I feel like it's something I'd want to feel in my hand before buying. Plus I'm pretty sure yellow isn't a reason to buy a hair dryer now purple ....

Another T3 user - I have the Featherweight 2. It's amazing. When I bought it, I was mad at myself for buying a $200 hair dryer but I was really tired of the frizz and breakdown of $30 ConAir dryers, so I waited for a beauty.com tools sale and stacked it with a $10 off coupon and a GWP. No frizz, no mess, quick drying time and my hair isn't fried. I'm pretty sure it's magic.

I have long, thick hair that is wavy and gets pretty out of control in the Louisiana humidity. I had the T3 Featherweight 2 as well. It was great. It really was. Definitely cut down on drying time. And it lasted me pretty much 3 years… which is pretty good in the life of one of my hairdryers. I definitely thought it was the best. But, as it was dying, I had some issues with customer service (basically - I just couldn't get a response no matter how hard I tried). This turned me off from T3. I just didn't want to make a $200 investment and not trust the customer service. Sooooo….. I went on the search for another amazing hairdryer. After tons of research, I heard wonderful things about the Harry Josh hairdryer. This cute little mint green thing that blows like 80 mph and dries my hair even faster than the T3. Of course, its a little more expensive. I got it for $250. And you have to buy the diffuser separate. But O. M. G…..amazing. Here's the link where I bought it HairEnvy - Harry Josh Hairdryer There is a video on there and a bunch of reviews.
Here are some other reviews: Huffington Post review Refinery 29 review Allure review Total Beauty review
And it is the cutest darn thing you've ever seen Anyway, I think really, either way you can't go wrong. But just another suggestion for you!

ok… just to show you the results with my hairdryer, here is a pic of my hair recently more natural (sorry, don't know how to crop my hubbie out and he's making a goofy face. also i couldn't find one of my hair straight on!) And this was the other day after I dried my hair: With the hairdryer, I find I really don't have to use my flat iron hardly at all. I may flat iron some around my face. With the T3, I could get the same results…but had to use my flat iron as well. Which meant more damage. Hope this helps!

Katie, you may have just sold me on that hairdryer. I couldn't imagine that a hair dryer that small could do so much! I think I may go with that one. How long have you had it? What kind of brush do you use. It did AWESOME on your hair!!

Katie, i really want that Harry Josh dryer now ! Just read a gazzillion reviews and 99% are positive. I just have a few questions I'm hoping you can answer for me . Is it as heavy as they say it is? Does it hurt to hold it while drying? Someone mentioned that their hair gets sucked into the vent because the nose is shorter than other dryers. Has this happened to you? Thanks!

I bought 2 sizes at the salon…. one really large and one smaller to kinda help add a little wave at the ends when i wanted to do that. There are a million options. The all boar bristle brushes just wouldn't fully hold my hair which is too thick. she told me NO NO No to metal brushes, especially with that dryer. they will get wayyyyy too hot and damage your hair.

Ok, i can't really find exact weights from the companies, but from reading different reviews they both are about 2 pounds. I will say that because of it's compact size, that 2 lbs feels different than the T3s lbs. I wouldn't want to use it to do blow outs on people all day, because I do think it would start to feel heavy. For me, I do full blowouts only about twice a week. I still dry my hair, but not always fully blow it out from top to bottom, every strand. At the end of a full blowout, it feels heavy. But then its over haha. Like i said, i think it is because the weight is distributed over a small area. However, the portability of this thing can't be beat if you travel a lot. I have not had my hair sucked into the vent. And I have pretty long hair. I guess I see how that could happen. I'm sure it depends on how you dry your hair.

Does a more expensive hair dryer really make a difference? I use a conair dryer.. I think an expensive hair dryer definitely makes a difference. However, whether or not it is actually worth it probably depends on your type of hair. If your hair is fine and straight and not frizzy at all and you live in a dry climate it probably wouldn't be worth it. If your hair goes crazy in the humidity, like mine, it is worth it. I've hear a ton of people say (and agree for the most part), that once you get into the higher end hair dryers you will notice little difference between brands. I wrote about my experiences above.
