Reminds me of Stila's Countless Color Pigments. I may give the Hard Candy ones a whirl.

Reminds me of Stila's Countless Color Pigments. I may give the Hard Candy ones a whirl. Yeah, I'm intrigued by the marbling of the different colors. Looks like they're worth trying, plus can't beat the price. It may be hard for me to find locally though.

That's because the Stila ones were part of the 2013 Summer Collection and they are on clearance. The color-picking is an issue with Stila's as well. Unless you have tiny brushes, it's nearly impossible to purely pickup one color--instead you get some bleeding, which makes it hard in both placing color as well as keeping the look consistent on both eyes.

I found 6 shades at my local Wally-World this morning (made a shadow run on my way into work). I got the browns, the blue-green, and the purples. The other three didn't really appeal to me.

Considering that I'm at work right now, probably best if I do wait My patients will see me with the shadows and want to play with them too.

Well I was able to find 4 of them at my local Wal-Mart, but passed on one of them (the oink one). I got these three: Grape Dane: www.hardcandy.com/beauty-eyes/m_g_single-loving-eye-shadow-grape-dane/World Peace: www.hardcandy.com/beauty-eyes/m_h_single-loving-eye-shadow-world-peace/Low Rise Jeans: www.hardcandy.com/beauty-eyes/m_c_single-loving-eye-shadow-low-rise-jeans/I really only liked World Peace. The Low Rise Jeans was okay but to me seems like a common color of blue with slight shimmer. The Grape Dane one was a big glittery fallout mess--I think the problem is that there isn't a good matte purple in there so that when the shadow is swirled, not much results except glitter. Big fail. The World Peace one is a nice shimmery blue green; it may be a bit too colorful for my older eyes but I'm wearing it around the house now to see how it holds up. I would like to try the Sandy Beach one, although its effects may be similar to the Wet & Wild single Nutty one I have (which I really like) or the similar but more copper based Sephora Cookie Crunch. snowshoe, did you get a chance to try yours yet? If you got Sandy Beach, what do you think of it?

Catbelly, I tried Sandy Beach on my eyes. Swirl the shades all together, and it's not bad. But try to use individual colors, and it's a big letdown. No one shade was very pigmented, yet all together they somehow work.
I haven't tried the other two on my eyes, but I did swatch all three on my arm: Sandy Beach, Grape Dane and World Peace. Middle to poor pigmentation in all of them. Sandy Beach was the best of the lot in terms of payout...but that's not saying much. The blue-green one looked washed out...it might be salvageable for days I want a sheerer wash of color. The purples were all glitter and no color.

Also, all three of the shades applied unevenly. It takes too much work to make the Hard Candy shadows look good.
Stila's are better.

Ok, final post after playing with them some more I tried Grape Dane on my eyes for all three colors. It takes a hell of a lot of work to get color payoff and even application. Grape Dane is so glittery and has such high fallout that it makes UD's glitterbombs look almost matte in comparison. I think the problem with Hard Candy's version is that the color sections don't run all the way down to the pan but appeared to be layered on. I was attempting to get some of the dark blue from World Peace and it flaked off, showing the light blue underneath. Same thing with Grape Dane: dark purple flaked off. Worse with Grape Dane: the superglittery light purple started coming out in chunks. I uploaded a pic with swatches of Sandy Beach, World Peace and Grape Dane (from top to bottom) so you can see the pigmentation issues. Sandy Beach is the best of the lot but just like Grape Dane, it's high in the sparkle/fallout factor. IMO, for $3, you get exactly what you paid for.

All in all, these eye shadows are a big disappointment! This is the second product from Hard Candy that I've bought that I didn't like. (I bought the bronzer everyone talks about and I didn't like that one either.)
