Hey everyone. I normally have really good skin, it gives me the occasional spot, but nothing more than that. I went to do my makeup the other day, though, and I use bright lights for it, and I noticed what I hadn't under normal lighting, my cheeks are coooovered in bumps. They're very small and not inflamed, but there has to be dozens of them. Some are white and some are pinkish, and I'm kind of panicking because I don't know what to do for acne, I've never had it before. So I'm really hoping for some good advice right now to try and clear this up! I started a new birth control this month, and it could possibly be that, so if all else fails, I'll ask my doctor to switch me to another kind and see if that makes it go away. I also started using a konjac sponge and I stopped using my Ole Henriksen Truth Serum. I stopped using the sponge for now, just to see if that could be it. If anyone has any ideas or product suggestions for something gentle that could still help, I'd greatly appreciate it. I do have sensitive skin, it has been dry lately, but is normally combination/oily. Thank you!

are you sure it's acne? Have you looked up the side effects of the new pill? This sounds like it could be almost anything: dermititus, hormonal acne, or even an allergic reaction. I like to try the process of elimination; removing items and treating for that specifically. It's not always quick, but it narrows down the problem so I know going forward. You may want to see a dermatologist; there are different creams for "breakouts", depending on what they are. Good luck! While this is happening drink lots of water to flush your system. It may help.

I would be thinking its your birth control. Some people are just sensitive. I had terrible acne when I had an iud. Kept it for a year and a half, hoping it would simmer down bit couldn't standing anymore. I'll be months now getting rid of the leftover red marks.

I agree with others who have mentioned it being birth control. I had a similar problem, although I'm on the Depo shot. Certain brands of the shot will cause my skin to flare up while others are perfectly fine. It took me over a year to realize that my birth control was the thing ruining my skin. I had changed my diet, bought every fancy skin care item people recommended, took more zinc, etc... nothing worked... except changing birth control brands. Now I'm back to the occasional bump.

Since I did the birth control switch, the konjac sponge and ended the OH Truth Serum all at the same time, I'm going to try one by one changing back to what I did before. I haven't used the konjac sponge in a few days, and I'm not seeing a difference, but I opened up another bottle of Truth Serum today and will see how that goes over the next week, and if it still isn't changed by then, my BC ends next week, so I can just call my doctor and have him put me on something different. It sucks, my last birth control had absolutely zero side effects (the only one that's ever been perfect for me), and then my insurance changed the price and it's nearly $150 for a month! *sigh* Maybe they'll eventually come out with a generic.

Brenna, BCPs are supposed to be completely covered under the affordable healthcare act. I would call your insurance and talk to them about why they are charging you at all!

Brenna, BCPs are supposed to be completely covered under the affordable healthcare act. I would call your insurance and talk to them about why they are charging you at all! It all depends on the tier level. The one I was taking was the highest tier medication, meaning that it's not covered under the insurance I have, even though it's through the Healthcare.gov website. The one I'm on now is the closest ingredient-wise to the one I was on before, but is covered under the Affordable Care Act. It's all "qualifying" forms of birth control -_- I may end up just getting a non-hormonal IUD, which is free as well, and lasts up to 10 years.

brennabombshell - ugh that stinks! Mine finally got covered when I moved to NY- in Chicago I still had to pay, which I could never understand. I have a few friend who got IUDs and they like them a lot though- hope you find a good/affordable option soon!!
