Hey ladies! Do you do anything different with your makeup routine over the summer? Change colors, products, etc.? As I'm out more, I'm seeing my complexion change (it's hard for me to say "tan") and I've noticed a need to change foundation, but on top of that, I'm trying to be a bit more bold with some of my everyday looks; I'm embracing the Orange makeup trend, and using a lot more gold, on my eyes and face. What, if anything have you done, or are preparing to do as we transition into summer? Any trends you're planning on trying?

I cut way back on makeup during the summer. Today, I have on shawdow pencil, eyeliner and mascara - that is it! No foundation, blush or actual face products! To damn HOT and the daily RAIN is enough to drive a person just insane!!!

I was going to post something similar mrsbaine - what do you wear to the beach or pool? Really I don't wear much but sunscreen and waterproof mascara, but I feel like I look so greasy with just sunscreen on (I use the Neutrogena 70spf for face) - maybe I just need different sunscreen? What would you suggest??

There are two sunscreens I've worn to the pool: Algenist SPF (Yeah, I'm an Algenist fan, like big time!). It's not greasy at all! It sinks right into your skin seamlessly. I've also worn Shisheido's in the blue bottle. It was a Fan Friday back in March. I like that one too, although it does have a white cast if you're taking pics. When I'm on vacation, I wear nothing but sunscreen to the beach. When I went to the pool a week or so ago, I did wear Becca Beach Tint Souffle in Topaz/Tangerine (I think- it's the darkest one), a cream shadow- it's a neutral one by theBalm, Mascara and UD Naked lipgloss in Naked. Everything but the lip gloss was waterproof and it was a party so I felt the need to not look like a bum. I do prefer cream based things for activities outside during the summer. They seem to have a bit more staying power and haven't run down my face making it a nasty mess.
I'd love to try a graphic eye liner. I'm scared. My first attempt with a peacock color looked crazy.

What would you suggest?? I've been using the Shiseido Oil-Free SPF 42+++ for the face. It's in the white bottle, I think it's the Urban Environment sunscreen. I find it really wonderful. It dries to a matte finish on the face and really protects your skin; I also use it as a primer for a tinted moisturizer or BB creme on days when I'm wearing light makeup in the heat and sun. I hear the Shiseido SPF 50 in the blue bottle is also really awesome, but I haven't tried it yet. You do get less product in the Urban Environment sunscreen (1.0 oz vs. 3 and something oz in the blue bottle), but it works very well for me!

hackneyfl, did you pick up anything cream based on your free weekend? My time outside is very limited during the week, during the day, so I just play with color now at the office. But on the weekends when I'm out, I do a BB Cream- although the UD Foundation is quite light and could probably work out there.

I love the Clarins facial sunscreen UV plus SPF 40. I can't remember the official long name. But it is in the white bottle. Definitely taking some of the tiny tubes with me on my vacation. It works amazing alone or under my foundation and doesn't leave my greasy. Their spf body oil smells beachy and is great too. I haven't tried it in my hair though...it says you can but it seems too oily for it.
Lately I have been wearing my guerlain terracotta joli teint foundation. Amazing summer foundation. It makes my skin glowy and seems to moisturize it. Gives pretty good coverage yet doesn't feel heavy. Pair it with highlighter and bronzer and a little mascara and that is gonna be my go to summer look. Just a glowy and dewy look. Simple eyes. Makes it real easy to get ready in the morning!

I tried that foundation in Nordstrom this weekend. It felt pretty nice! I went with the YSL because I preferred the sales rep. I can't justify 3 foundations though, although I do want the Guerlain one... Decisions, decisions.

I usually change up my foundation in the summer too, as I do get a bit darker (I tan very easily), but I guess I don't really have a go-to formula. Currently I'm using the Arbonne liquid foundation, simply because it's a great shade match right now. But if I'm headed to a beach, river, etc, I usually just use Neutrogena Clear Face, and then spot conceal with Tarte Amazonian Clay waterproof concealer.
But during the summer, I definitely gravitate to a warmer look with bronzer, coral blush, bronze-y or gold eyes and orangey lippies.

While I like playing with bunches of makeup products in the winter, I turn pretty minimalist in the summer. Heat = sweat = messy makeup for me. I change up moisturizer and use a gel instead of a liquid, and I abandon mascara that isn't waterproof. I've become a big fan of the Too Faced 16 Hour Bronzer - I need very little because I'm ridiculously pale, but it sure does stay! I've tried foundation and even my favorite formulas just feel heavy in the heat. I may need a recommendation for a good primer...

I used Hourglass Mineral Veil today; I've found that on really hot days, it works pretty well. I also like the one from the Glossybox- Napolian Perdis, which is sold at Nordstrom as well. It's very hydrating; it seems like it will be an awesome winter primer as well.

I can't justify 3 foundations though, although I do want the Guerlain one... Decisions, decisions. Embarrassing...I have two bottles of givenchy (my hg), benefits big easy (not bad for summer and I can use it year-round cause it is paler) and the guerlain. I love the guerlain. The guerlain and my givenchy photo'perfexion are my faves. I am such a foundation hoarder...but now that I have color matches and found a few great formulas hopefully that will stop lol The terracotta is very warm. I am wondering if I get the lightest shade if I can use it during winter time. I am desperately gonna try to use my tube up because my skin will get too pale for it. The only ysl foundation I tried was the touche eclat and it looked horrible on me. I love the guerlain though. It is such easy makeup! I don't even use a primer all the time with it. Definitely going for just a glowy golden goddess look this summer. Gold/bronze eyes, black liner and lots of highlighter!

So full disclosure eriles; I have 2 clinque ones that are literally almost done that are a bit too light now. I keep them till winter to see if I'll match, BUT (here's the disclosure part) I probably won't use them because I find them cakey and not natural looking. I am really loving UD Naked and the YSL one. If my color changes I'll probably try to match the new color with one of those brands. I saw a pic of me recently with the Clinique on and I hated the matte effect on me now compared to my Natural finishes. I'm still learning!

I haven't wanted to make a big purchase until I find something I really love/highly recommended! I should definitely check out Hourglass. In the winter I have no problems even with a drugstore primer, but the heat and I are not friends.

I don't really change anything but my foundation. I use a bb cream, mineral powder, or nothing. Also, with a tan I rarely use eyeliner. I know, I know I am awful, but I rarely use a face sunscreen. If I do it's the Josie Marin SPF 45, but I don't really like it. Leaves a weird film and me and I can't layer with any type of face product. I do wear brighter lips though since I keep my eye makeup pretty minimal.

My sister just bought the hourglass primer and she ran and everything in the heat and she said she still didn't look oily or the makeup budge. She gave me a little sample so I can see all the hype.
