I'm hard on my hands/nails. Lots of home imrpovement, crafts, etc. So I usually just use drug store nail polishes because my nails are going to look like crap in no time anyway. I bought two bottles of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure (Take the Leap and Tulle Kit) that were the prettiest shimmery shades of lavender and blue but I would literally have to use 12 coats to get a nice even look. I had the brilliant idea of using a matte solid lavender or blue as basically a base coat so I wouldn't have to use so many coats of the shimmery ones...duh! Anyway, I had Sally Hansen coupons so I bought Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Lacey Lilac and Wet Suit. They have been like a miracle to me! When I use them as base coats my polish lasts for days and days. This photo (taken very quickly so excuse poor quality and excuse the hang nails) was taken after I had the polish on for four days and after scraping glue and caulk out of a shower stall from where a shelf had fallen off (old house!), scrubbing said shower stall and reglueing and recaulking shelf, scrubbing kitchen floor by hand without gloves and then putting down two coats of acrylic finish, doing some dishes by hand without gloves and other assorted "chores"! They are just now starting to show some wear along the edges but no chips at all. I am very happy considering the XTreme Wear costs $2.99 at my local RiteAid!

I need to look into that. I'm finding that I don't have good wear time with too many polishes lately. I tried Sinful; they are hit or miss. Even Julep is hit or miss for me. I'm wearing gel right now, but in between I like to do my own nails. Will check them out.
