Do you ever feel like your brain is all wound up? Today I can't focus on any task for any length of time and I feel like somebody sandpapered my nerves! No work stress that I can put my finger on, just feel tense. Can you all give me some suggestions to settle me down? Thanks, luvs!

Ha- I feel like that frequently - soooo I was started on anti-anxiety meds Probably not the solution you are looking for! What about going for a walk (or run if that's your thing) - sometimes that helps. I also feel better if I have lots of things to do if I write everything out in lists - keeps my brain organized.

I saw this in a Journal, Nutritional and herbal supplements for anxiety and anxiety-related disorders: systematic review Conclusions Based on the available evidence, it appears that nutritional and herbal supplementation is an effective method for treating anxiety and anxiety-related conditions without the risk of serious side effects. There is the possibility that any positive effects seen could be due to a placebo effect, which may have a significant psychological impact on participants with mental disorders. However, based on this systematic review, strong evidence exists for the use of herbal supplements containing extracts of passionflower or kava and combinations of L-lysine and L-arginine as treatments for anxiety symptoms and disorders. Magnesium-containing supplements and other herbal combinations may hold promise, but more research is needed before these products can be recommended to patients.

st. johns Wort is a natural mood stabilizer and anti anxiety. I may take two tomorrow. I use them when I feel moody, or I need to relax- like when flying. You can get them at the vitamin Shop, or even Target.

I have dealt with pretty severe anxiety before. And still get antsy every now and then.
I guess it is all about finding your own way to relax.
I love tea; sleepytime tea (the extra version is great too) by celestial seasonings is awesome. It has Valerian in it to help knock you out. I know I have trouble sleeping if I have too many random thoughts going on.
Working out. Either hardcore running to burn energy (and give yourself some time to sort thoughts) or something peaceful like yoga.
Finding solace in being a couch potato watching your favorite show or movie is awesome too.
Also we did this breathing exercise in my yoga class the other day. It is very meditative and helped clear the thoughts out of my head...basically as you inhale through your nose, imagine a white board. When you inhale imagine the number one showing up on the board. When you slowly exhale, imagine your exhale almost erasing or blowing away the number 1. Then go on to number two...then three...you get the point. Lol. It definitely helped clear my head in yoga; especially because you don't want racing thoughts in class. It also helped me fall asleep the other night (kinda like counting sheep haha). If you really focus on the breathing exercise all other thoughts tend to disappear!
Hope that helps!
