I have recently started using African black soap and so far I am really liking it. I have tried the bar soap, astringent/toner, infused shea butter (for eczema) and mask. Any tips/tricks on using it? What brands do you recommend? Right now I am using Shea Moisture and Nubian Heritage, and their products seem almost identical.

I don't have any tips or tricks, but I'm really interested in picking up a bar of African Black Soap once I'm out of my current wash (which will be very soon). I've heard lots of good things about it for combination oily skin!

While I have never used it, I hear it's amazing for acne prone skin! Also I have heard that the Shea moisture brand is good

I bought a bottle of Shea Moisture African Black Soap Body Wash. I found it too drying to use on my face (acne-prone but combination/dry) so I'm using it just as a body wash. I get breakouts on my chest and haven't seen any improvement using it yet (1/4 bottle gone) but I don't find it drying or irritating.

I really love it as a body wash, its helped a lot with my eczema and general environmental irritation on my skin. I am trying the Nubian Heritage bar soap version, and not liking it as much as Shea Moisture's, NH's is harder/denser and seems to leave a residue on my skin. Hasn't caused me to break out, but I can tell that my moisturizer isn't soaking in as fast.
Also just received my order for Shea Terra and tried their Rose Hips and African Black Soap cleanser/mask (and the Rose-plenishing moisturizer. Its a little early to rate it, but my initial feelings are good. My skin feels great, and they were very generous with the samples. (I ordered lip balm, cleanser, and facial oil/serum and they sent me samples of their bar soap, moisturizer, and another oil/serum, pretty good sized to. I think I am gonna get 2-3 days use from the moisturizer and that's the smallest.)

I don't think I even looked for one, I am on their email list and I had a code for 30% off that I used, so it made up the difference. They seem to run discounts like that fairly regularly, it might be worth signing up for the emails and waiting a bit.

Just picked this up when my current wash ran out. I'll have to update with thoughts once I use it for awhile! The smell kind of reminds me of bubblegum. Is that odd?

I use the Dudu Osan Afrian black soap, originally bought for my boyfriend and it worked SUPER well for him (he's fair skinned and gets really red really big pimples when he gets them) so I bought it. Works like a dream.
He tried the Shea Moisture one and it didn't do anything for him. But I've also read in a few places that if your black soap is truly black in color instead of brown it's not real black soap , so that could be why..
