I wish I knew ppl in my area to see if the events here were good. But I am not gonna bother. Most of my beauty purchases are from Nordstrom. Sephora is really only for givenchy lol. The associates at most of the stores around here suck. it wasn't bad honestly. I also get most of my stuff from Nordstrom. But the samples made today worth while. Ugh was gonna go but I went out last night and slept right through alarms. Now I get to go work at a restaurant on the worst day of the week with 2 hrs of sleep and a hangover from hell. That's my rant of the day.

I wish there was a way I could know in advance if my local events were worthwhile (besides the bags that will be at every one). It would be nice to get extra swag! Glad yours was fun! I ended up going to the gym and have to work soon. Time well spent lol.

I took my Mom and had a great time. When I called earlier this week they said there would be no brand reps but there were! They were also in a giving mood. I needed Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage concealer and the rep gave me deluxe samples of the Radiance foundation primer and setting powder, very sweet, too. Next up was DermaDoctor, I was getting some stuff for my Mom and they loaded us up with deluxe samples of KP duty (which I love). The rep recognized me from the last event when they were out of everything. Last was Smashbox, I really wanted to try the telephoto brush and does it deliver! I got another BE LEGENDARY LONG-WEAR LIP LACQUER, this stuff is fantastic. It really lasts. She then convinced me to try their new lip liner (not something I use) and I believe I'll be using it from now on. I really like Smashbox, it was nice to talk to a rep who was not pushy and would talk about other brands, too. Nice deluxe samples of Eye Brightening Mascara, primer and a cosmetic bag. Best of all, I didn't have to ask for any of the freebies, nice I forgot to ask for any promos while checking out, oh well. For me this was a much better event than the one in the spring. The sample bag for my guest was great! I thought the name tags were really cute, mine-VIB Rouge and my Mom's, Future VIB Rouge.

I just got home. After reading stuff on BT, I kind of wish I had talked to the reps more to try out some new items. I was just afraid of being suckered into a purchase lol. My sister and I got there a bit before it opened so we were some of the first to walk in. It was so awkward because all the reps and SAs were standing in lines on either side of us as we entered and they all cheered SUPER loudly lol. There was a long line of people waiting to ride the cable cars right outside and they gave us weird looks I know if I had more to spend right now, it would have been more enjoyable for sure but everyone was very helpful and my sis and I both got sample bags. I encouraged her to get the NARS tinted moisturizer after a rep tried both that and the LM on her. I'm so jealous she can get away with just that while I need foundation, but feel happy she got something good! I asked for the MJ highliner and Bareminerals promo at checkout. They didn't know anything about the VIBLIP one, oh well. Overall it was a nice time!

I feel like because it was my second, I knew exactly what to say and do to get more stuff. Also I went alone which was better- I focused solely on me. When I took a friend I was always making sure she was ok.

But now I know how it works, next time I'll be more aware!

I'm ranting and it's because I feel the beauty programs neglect me!!! Then again my VIB purchases are only because they are combined with my grandma, mother and because recently I've brought a T3 straightener for this qualifying period. Most of my make-up is from duty free or department stores.

Get a Nordie's card; they won't neglect you.

I forgot to add that my one purchase today aside from cotton rounds today was the NARS Dual Intensity eyeshadow in Desdemona. Also got suckered into buying an Origins CC Cream at the Origins store but I am returning it if I can. They gave me a free facial and I think I'm breaking out from it

I am so annoyed with my husband! He's going to NYC tomorrow and has a free night before he meets up with his cousin for the weekend and business early next week. He forwards me an email to print the ticket for his Broadway show tomorrow night and it's Kinky Boots! I've already bought tickets for the touring show here in March. NOW I'm going to have to hear how much better it was in NYC! Oh well, I may have to take my Mom for all the shows next year I never hear the end of passing Wicked on broadway to watch the Lion King. Idina and Kristin were still in it when I passed, so I am aware now that I messed up. The touring cast is coming here soon, so I am sure I am about to hear it again. I have season tickets, and Kinky Boots tours here next month.

I'm starting to be annoyed with the job hunt! I don't have experience for a director role and those are what seem to be open. Daddy wants me... no more so grandma wants me to stay in the Bay Area. I want to go move to Australia and live there, but they think it's a phase. ITS NOT when I have thought about it and even with the expensive rent. I'm not going to be in my 20s, I'm not going to be single forever, at least I don't think and I'd like to get away from here for a while. And yes, I just got back from Sydney, but that's not my point!

That may go back.

This afternoon's rant: Some days, I look at people on my staff and I wonder, legitimately, how they've made it this far in life when they literally work with about 1 percent of their brain. I've sent 2 e-mails in the last week with the SAME message, and had a conversation with this person about the this process and the e-mails, and they still find the need to ask me what to do when it's been outlined and reviewed. Seriously? How do you get out of the bed in the morning and decide what pants you want to put on? Do you ask your spouse? How do you get to work? On a prayer? Use just a little of that thing between your ears... just a little! Good Lord! *gets up, closes office door....

My rant for the day: My husband just got a new awesome engineering job. Which is super fantastic. But we found out this might mean I'll have to switch health care providers at 38 weeks pregnant. SO not happy. Trying to find alternatives (none of which are particularly good so far). I'm also grumpy because I just did the first glucose test, got a fun blood draw, and get to go fight the DMV on paperwork they processed incorrectly. Deep breaths...

What kills me is we're paying them 6 figures and they refuse to make decisions and even if they tried, they wouldn't be sound. So I spend most of my time trying to teach them to make grown up decisions about their work; think through things at a higher level, and always think about the actual impact to the people who keep our lights on. They are so in their own head that they can't see the bigger picture and that's sad.
